"B Cars"
some people call them "modified sportsman"
or "open wheel special" cars
I miss these, sorry but the Modified Sportsman
class that
they are racing today just isn't the same.

Ronnie Daniels 1977
Sorry for not knowing many of the drivers... It
was
over twenty years ago!
Transverse springs, I-Beam axles, steelies, sometimes
even whitewall tires.
You won't see a bead lock here.
If you look close at some of the pics, you can
see drivers in denim shirts...
There's even a picture of Sammy Swindell and
he's wearing tennis shoes.
Looks like most of these started running a four-bar
setup,
almost like a non-winged sprint...
I LOVED these cars... when Jeff Swindell started
racing,
I asked my father to build me one!
Wasn't long after that that we stopped going
to the races for some reason.... hmmm.
If you have any photos of cars like these, send 'em to me... I'll post 'em fer sure!
Thanks,
t-Odd
